Studying language sciences at the University of Cologne

The University of Cologne offers a broad range of study programmes in the field of linguistics. On the following pages, you find information about every programme.

Please note that knowledge of German (C1) is required for studying the M.A. programme Linguistik. In 2018 we launched the additional study track M.A.Linguistics which is tought completely in English. For further information, please consult the programme advisors.

Essentials for Students

M.A. Linguistik

The interdisciplinary M.A. study programme is jointly organized by our institutes. Students have to select one out of 13 possible specalizations, which enable them to build up individual skills.

M.A. Linguistics

This M.A. study programme in English is jointly organized by our institutes. Students have to select one out of 5 possible specalizations, which enable them to build up individual skills.

Linguistic and related studies (B.A. und M.A.)

The linguistic institute at the University of Cologne offer a huge variety of language-related studies. Students can freely combine two subjects enhance their academic knowledge.
